Interview and Cake Finishing Demonstration

with Rose Wilde

Rose Wilde, whose debut cookbook, Bread and Roses, will be in discussion and demonstrating innovative cake finishing techniques along with her baking colleagues, Elisa Sunga and Jacqui de Borja.

Rose will share her love of ancient, heirloom and alternative grains and how to enhance the depth of flavor of your bakes by tasting for tannins, body, acidity, strength and hydration. She will dig in to the ways her global travels have influenced the unique recipes in her book, and provide expert tips on the proper ways to source and preserve ingredients from local farmers. You are invited to join Rose for this deep dive party into modern layer cakes with wholegrains and botanicals!

About Rose Wilde: Rose Wilde is a former human rights lawyer turned writer, chef, master food preserver, master gardener, and owner of Red Bread. About Elisa Sunga: Elisa Sunga is the baker behind saltedrye, known for fun takes on flavor combinations, ingredient use, and the artistry of color. Outside of baking, Elisa is a UX Program Manager at Google where she focuses on design, community, and team culture.

About Jacqui de Borja: Jacqui de Borja is a former pastry chef/instructor and collegiate mascot. Now she’s a mama, a ux designer, and a watercolor artist. As you can probably tell from those two sentences, she’s not very good at sitting still or writing bios, but she does love exploring new creative outlets.
