Culinary Institute of America
Greystone Tour

Experience the rich history of the Culinary Institute of America’s landmark Greystone building in St. Helena—once home to the Christian Brothers Winery. This stunning stone structure now hums with activity in its teaching kitchens, bakeshops, and classrooms.

Watch students in action as they hone their craft, then grab a coffee, pastry, or lunch at the Ghirardelli Café—prepared and served by Baking and Pastry students. Be sure to leave time for a visit to the Spice Islands Marketplace, a culinary shopping destination you won’t want to miss.

Associate Professor of Baking & Pastry, Greystone alumna, and fellow Bakers Dozen member Angela Salvatore will lead an insider’s tour of all three levels of Greystone, including a special “off-menu” stop in the bakeshop.

If you’re staying in the area for the evening, consider dining at the CIA’s Gatehouse Restaurant, which offers an excellent prix-fixe dinner at a very reasonable price.

Also nearby is the CIA at Copia, home to Chuck Williams’ Culinary Arts Museum, art collections, a culinary garden and a marketplace for even more shopping.

Accessibility note: The tour will include some stairs. The CIA can accommodate wheelchairs or crutches as needed, but there may be times when we must reroute to avoid student traffic, requiring brief exits and reentries that involve a flight of stairs.
